Yorkshire is different.  Different for every visitor and every time you visit.  It’s not just the range of things to do and places to see from rugged moorlands to great stores and shops: from awe-inspiring coastlines to internationally acclaimed theatres.  It’s the way that it seems to respond to you. Whatever you seek it is there for you. Maybe that is because it’s the place that inspires your choices in the first place or maybe it’s the people who are always ready to go “the extra mile”  Whatever the reason you will take away a personal experience that will live in your memory for a lifetime.

Yorkshire’s National Parks are about some exhilarating protected and diverse landscapes, fresh air and relaxation — yes indeed it is getting away from stress and congestion.  Enjoy the narrow lanes and picturesque villages in comfort with plenty of time to explore or freedom to relax over a drink in a local hostelry. The National Park is a great location to holiday and walk the Dales Way along with many other great walks in the area, to a dog walking holiday, to a rest and a quiet stroll. Whilst walking is a very popular outdoor pursuit there are numerous other outdoor activities.  Enjoy the scenery by having a bicycle ride on the roads through this beautiful area. Secure cycle storage is available at the cottage. Just take off in a hot-air balloon to view the fascinating terrain or laze your way through it in a narrowboat or “let the train take the strain” on the scenic Settle/Carlisle railway from Skipton.

Whether you are sailing or surfing, diving or driving, potholing or pottering you will find your own view of Yorkshire.  The towns of Harrogate (with its Harlow Carr garden centre part of the Royal Horticultural Society and flower festivals), Skipton, Ilkley, Harrogate and Ripon are within 30 minutes drive whilst Richmond and York are within 40 miles of “Westgarth Cottage”.

Here you will have the chance to enjoy retail therapy at its best. Antique stores, boutiques and the world renowned Betty’s tea shops to enable you to savour the fabulous pastries and rare blends of tea for the discerning palate are among the many treasures that North Yorkshire has to offer. There are many reasons to visit Grassington among which are the Grassington Fesitval, the 1940’s weekend and the Dickensian Festival.

So welcome, relax and enjoy your stay in a “bygone age” in the quaint village of Grassington in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
